In a bold reimagining of the salon experience, PUO has officially opened its doors in the heart of Melbourne, housed within the heritage-listed Century Building. Home to renowned Australian hairdresser Danny Puopolo and brought to life by creative studio Thank You, Baby, this immersive space is a high-gloss haven that redefines what a beauty destination can be.
From the moment guests step inside, they’re enveloped in a curated world of cherry reds, bubblegum pinks, and high-shine finishes that drip with drama. Every detail is meticulously considered - from the crimson kitchen and chain-draped lighting to lipstick-pink lounge chairs and softly blushed walls.
“We wanted PUO to feel like you’re at Danny’s apartment - a private, comfortable space that invites clients to feel completely at home,” say Thank You, Baby.
With their signature flair for colour, texture, and camp elegance, Thank You, Baby has created a salon that is as photogenic as it is functional.
The space unfolds across three distinct, design-led zones:
The Kitchen:
A fully tiled, all-red-everything bar inspired by Danny’s Nonna’s kitchen - part colour-mixing lab, part hospitality hub.The Lounge:
Marbled plinths at each styling station and a central high-gloss communal table that blends colour consultation with laid-back lounge energy. The Wet Room:
A moody, cocooned sanctuary in deep burgundy, softly lit by custom pendant lighting and equipped with luxurious reclining wash chairs.
The salon services are matched by a hospitality ethos - guests are invited to linger, sip something fizzy, flip through an art book, and soak in the atmosphere. PUO is as much about connection and community as it is about hair.
