CROWN MELBOURNE - 30 YEAR RETROSPECTIVE
To mark 30 years of Crown Melbourne, TYBB was commissioned to design and deliver a two-act retrospective within the Crown Atrium, celebrating the brand’s rich performance and red-carpet legacy through fashion and costume.
ACT I — SHOWGIRLS
Working in residence with full access to Crown’s costume archives, TYBB spent weeks restoring and reworking historic Showgirl pieces spanning three decades. Archival garments were carefully repaired, refreshed and returned to stage-ready condition before being presented alongside select custom TYBB creations.
The collection was showcased on a Busby Berkeley–inspired tiered, gold-mirrored revolving stage, where eleven performers brought the costumes back to life. Elevated styling and precise staging transformed the presentation into a living tribute to Crown’s performance history.
ACT II — RED CARPET
The stage was then reconfigured to reveal a curated runway of iconic gowns from Crown’s 30-year red carpet history. Alongside celebrated Australian designers, TYBB created a bespoke anniversary piece — a sculptural gown constructed from 315 rhinestoned poker chips — delivering a playful but polished nod to Crown’s legacy.
The result was a glittering, large-scale retrospective that honoured the past while delivering full TYBB theatre in the heart of the Atrium.
